Title Designs
The opening title sequence for HBO’s 4-Part Award-winning documentary Black and Missing was a crucial element in setting the tone for the entire series. As the designer, I wanted to create a visually striking and emotionally impactful sequence that would immediately draw viewers in and capture their attention.
To achieve this, I worked closely with the producers and directors of the series to understand their vision and goals for the project. We discussed themes such as loss, hope, and resilience, as well as the importance of highlighting the stories of missing Black individuals who are often overlooked by mainstream media.
Using this information as a guide, I began sketching out ideas for the opening title sequence. I experimented with different typography styles, color palettes, and imagery to create a cohesive visual language that would carry throughout the entire series.
Once we had settled on a direction for the opening titles, I moved on to creating other key design elements such as the logo, lower third package, and templated designs.
